The Employee Assistance Programme can be accessed from day one of becoming a colleague at Brewers. This benefit is also extended to a colleague’s spouse or partner living at their address and any children under the age of 18.

The Employee Assistance Programme is managed by The Retail Trust, a charity focused on the wellbeing of people in the retail sector and is completely confidential. It offers guidance and support on a range of topics including emotional, legal issues, financial management and housing. Colleagues and their family members can even arrange counselling sessions at no cost through this service.

Health Cash Plan

The April after colleagues complete their probation period they can opt to join our health cash plan scheme and claim an allowance of money back for the most common routine healthcare treatments such as eye care, dentistry and prescription costs. There’s also cash back for some not so common ones too such as acupuncture, chiropody, and Indian head massage.

Virtual GP

We can offer an unlimited amount of virtual GP appointments at no cost to colleagues. They can make an over the phone or video appointment with a GP, to enable them to access medical advice when they need it. Dependent children of colleagues are also eligible to use the GP advice line.

Reframe Cancer Support in the Workplace

Reframe Cancer’s confidential support service assists at every step – raising awareness of symptoms, assisting throughout diagnosis, helping to understand any treatment, and assisting beyond, including recovery and supporting a return to work. Colleagues can access their informative website and 28 hours of personal support from a Reframe Cancer Nurse Specialist through Reframe information portal or their phone line.

Colleagues of Brewers are automatically enrolled in the pension scheme as soon as their employment starts. Colleague’s contribution of 4% of their gross basic salary is added to Brewers contribution of 5% of the gross basic salary. If the colleague increases their contribution to 5% or more of their gross basic salary, Brewers will the increase their contribution to 6%.

Colleagues are covered by Brewer’s Life Assurance to help colleague’s family when they will need it most.

You can’t plan for the unexpected so when it happens, there’s Wagestream. Colleagues can access up to 50% of their earned salary early to help when those unplanned expenses arise. But Wagestream is much more too! Colleagues can also use the app to set up a regular savings plan, monitor their earnings, get advice on debt management, apply for a workplace loan and check state benefit entitlement. Colleagues can even talk to a real-life financial coach to manage their financial wellbeing.

In a crisis there is also the Brewers Helping Hand Loan Scheme. Car repairs, boiler repairs or washing machine breakdown, Helping Hand is available for colleagues with at least one year’s service. This is an interest free loan of up to £1,500 repayable via payroll.

Enhanced Occupational Maternity - qualifying colleagues with at least one years’ service at the date the baby is due will qualify for enhanced maternity pay. Enhanced maternity pay means we pay the first 6 weeks at 100% of salary, then 10 weeks at 75% of salary, then 10 weeks at 50% of salary and then 13 weeks SMP at the rate of statutory maternity pay.

Colleagues that do not qualify for occupational maternity pay may be entitled to Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP). Additional terms and conditions apply in relation to occupational maternity pay scheme.

Enhanced Occupational Paternity Pay – qualifying colleagues with at least one years’ service at the date the baby is due (or the date the placement is made in the case of adoption) qualify for enhanced paternity pay which is two weeks at 100% of salary and two weeks at 50% of pay. Colleagues can choose to take one to four weeks of this enhanced leave in the year after the key date.

Colleagues that do not qualify for enhanced occupational paternity leave and pay may still be entitled to statutory paternity leave and pay. Additional terms and conditions apply in relation to occupational paternity leave and pay scheme.

Occupational Adoption Leave - Colleagues with one year’s service at the date of placement are entitled to participate in our enhanced Occupational Adoption Pay scheme.

For the first 26 weeks of adoption leave, colleagues will receive six weeks at 100% of their salary, ten weeks at 75% of their salary and ten weeks at 50% of their salary. Colleagues will then receive 13 weeks at the statutory adoption rate and the remaining 13 weeks unpaid.

Colleagues that do not qualify for occupational adoption pay may still be entitled to the statutory adoption rate. Additional terms and conditions apply in relation to occupational adoption pay scheme.

Carers Leave - at Brewers, we understand that some of our colleagues will have caring responsibilities. We would like to support our colleagues who work to balance unpaid carers’ needs with paid employment. We aim to provide our colleagues who are carers with the support that reflects these needs, which often increase, rather than the typical decrease, over time. We want to ensure all colleagues can remain at work and look after their physical and mental health while caring for someone else.

When you need time off for neonatal support, qualifying colleagues will be entitled to 100% of their normal pay to reflect the first six weeks that their baby is in neonatal care and 75% of their normal pay for a further six weeks, which will be added to the end of their maternity or paternity leave. To qualify, the baby must have been in neonatal care for one week or more.

We are also supporting colleagues with paid time off for Fertility treatment. Colleagues who are undertaking fertility treatment are eligible to receive up to 15 days during their employment. The accompanying parent would be entitled to up to six days during their employment to enable them to attend appointments.

From cinema tickets and holidays to discount vouchers for clothing and the weekly food shop colleagues will find great savings and cash back offers here with our discounts partner who offers these discounts via a website and app.

You already know Brewers branches offer a wide range of products. Colleagues get a discount on our products giving them savings on their home improvement projects. We offer a discount to colleagues to support them in their own DIY and to help them get to know the products we sell.

From the colleague’s first year of employment, they will be included in the profit share scheme and share in the success of Brewers. If the Company is achieving it’s targets, colleagues may receive a share of the profits twice a year. There’s better news – it’s usually paid just in time for Easter & Christmas!

We give monetary gift to colleagues who get married or enter a civil partnership. To anyone who has a new addition to their family we will make a small gift to enable colleagues to choose gift of the child (or parent) that may be useful.

There are so many reasons to stay with Brewers and a significant number of colleagues have been with us for many years. To recognise this loyalty, we reward them with a long service award and gift at 5, 10, 20, 30 years and beyond.

Charitable activity and helping our community, as well as the wider world, is something we feel strongly about at Brewers. We want to help the charities that are close to our colleagues’ heart. If a colleague is participating in a sponsored event for their chosen registered charity, we have a discretionary fund which they can apply to match their fundraising.

Holiday

Paid annual leave is available to all colleagues and can be booked, tracked and amended on the Employee Self Service portal. The amount of holiday entitlement increases with length of service. Annual leave starts at 31 days (including bank holidays) for full-time colleagues. Please check the job advert for the holiday entitlement related to each role.

Holiday Lodges

Brewers also have two fully furnished lodges for colleagues to enjoy. Colleagues with a year or more service can enter a lottery for a week’s free holiday at one of the lodges. Our Windermere Lodge in the Lake District comfortably sleeps four people, and the Looe Bay Lodge in Cornwall comfortably sleeps six.

Cycle To Work Scheme & Season Ticket Loans

After one year’s service colleagues can apply for an interest free loan to purchase a bicycle to use for journeys to and from work, plus for recreational use too! Colleagues after one years’ service can apply for an interest free bus or rail season ticket loan.
